October16th, 2009
Over the past few months, it’s seemed like we’ve all of a sudden entered into some kind of weird time warp. The days are flying by, leaving us baffled at how fast the time seems to go. It seems like each year goes by a little bit quicker than the one before. For example, we were just getting used to the idea that all our friends are getting married, and now, they are starting to have babies! Babies! How can it be? Are we really to that stage in our lives already? Most days we feel like we’re still the tender young age of 21 (yeah…not so much).
And then, just last week, we somehow got roped into helping to plan and organize our 10-year high-school reunion, and every time we think about it, our jaw drops to the floor at the thought that it’s been a decade since we graduated. Next summer at the reunion, people are going to be married and have babies. It’s completely crazy ... time just marches on.
Considering we are only in our late twenties, and we all know that time only goes faster the older you get, we think it's time to really seize the moment and live this life to its fullest. Obviously, there is no time to waste! |

Fancy a Cup of Tea?
While others are bemoaning the beginning of fall, we are very much enjoying this oh-so-refreshing season. Each drizzly evening presents a perfect excuse to curl up by the fire, light some aromatherapy candles, and enjoy a freshly steeped cup of hot organic tea and a good book (or “US Weekly,” more likely).
During a recent rummage for a calm yet awakening brew, we learned that it’s been a while since we’ve restocked our personal apothecaries. So we decided to investigate the much-whispered-about Dandelion Botanical Company. As we walked in, we felt instant tranquility communicated by celestial scents of teas, candles and natural herbs. We mused over their collection of books, ranging in topic from yoga and vegan cooking to how-to-mix-a-potion-to-punish-a-bad-boyfriend (ok, the latter’s a fib). There was no struggle to find that perfect spot of tea to suit any mood, and we even found a few herbal concoctions meant to keep our noses from fall sniffling.
We highly recommend that you visit Dandelion Botanical—just make sure that you have more than enough time to soak your part-yogi/part-shopping diva senses.

Life Can Get Messy
Work has been, can we say, a bit boring lately. We’re thankful for the paycheck, but sometimes it just feels like we don’t get to use enough of ourselves. Sure, we’ve been told we’re good at what we do, but it’s so “left-brained” and often our “right-brain” feels left out. We want to do something that takes a bit of creativity—at least more than pairing the perfect boots with an amazing jacket.
Honestly, we want to get a little messy. But, we don’t want to invest in all the materials or deal with the chaos our artistic endeavors will leave behind. So while searching for ways to free our creative spirits, we found the perfect answer. Space to Create is where you can find a creative outlet in all its messy glory. This place is a true art studio offering creative classes for all ages, ranging from oil painting and papier-mâché to holiday gift-making. Plus they have tools for independent workers, like jewelry making, sewing, painting, drawing, knitting, scrap booking, card-making and more.
You know where to find us the next time we’re feeling that artistic spark.

Fresh for Fall
Tis the season to embrace the scarf as a necessary accessory. Although we’ll miss our tans and sunglasses, we’re super excited for the seasonal change because it means one important thing… shopping! So we bundled up, grabbed a coffee, and headed down to the Ballard Farmer’s Market to see what we could harvest for fall fashion.
To our delight, we discovered a bath and body product line that’s not only good for the skin, but also the environment. Karmela Botanica is based on the belief that in order for your skin to feel fresh, your soaps and lotions need to be packed with the freshest ingredients. Sniff around the stand and you'll get the idea: The creamy bath bars made with ingredients like organic avocado, shea butter, and olive oil—and garnished with dried flower petals and slices of fruit—make you want to run to your bath and start scrubbing!
Alas, we can’t flaunt our silky smooth skin in our sundresses for a few (deep breath) months, but this organic skincare line helps us revitalize and refresh our skin during when it’s fleece-baring cold.

A Place To Lay Their Heads
We don’t carry her in our bag, but we do like to spoil our pooch. She’s just fabulous as we are, so when we found these doggie duvets, we thought, why shouldn’t our pup be able to change her bedding with the seasons like we do?
The dog bed duvets from Molly Mutt can be used recover old dog beds, or fill a new one with used pillows, clothing and blankets from your home (eco-friendly!). They make a durable, washable (and totally cute) bed for your best friend.

Q is for Quail
If we learned one thing at fashion week this year, it was that color (and the 1980s) are back in a big way this season! So we plan on adding a healthy dose of each into our wardrobes for fall and winter.
Quail makes pieces to satisfy both our needs. We love their tulip skirt in bright teal paired with their graphic tee, and of course, tights and booties. The whole line is vibrant, colorful and fun—just the way we want to come across to the world!

Giddy-Up!
You know it’s a good season for fashion when you—literally—cannot think of one trend you don’t want to rock. You also know that it’s going to be a rough season for the wallet when that’s the case.
One of the trends we are dying over right now is knee socks. Yes, you heard that right. Knee socks. The “Horse Bit” ones from In God We Trust, to be specific. They are so perfectly preppy and fall-ish. We’re ordering ours as we speak…we dare you to try them too!
