December 18th, 2009
With the holidays in full swing, we’ve been shopping our buns off for our friends, family, co-workers and dog (yes, she gets a gift, too). In fact, until someone asked us what was on our own holiday wish-list, we hadn’t even given it much thought. Ok, that last part isn’t completely true—we have an ongoing list that we keep up-to-date over at www.Wishpot.com (if you haven’t signed up, you must, it’s totally genius), but we have been so busy shopping for others that we nearly forgot to spread our wish-list around. (The horror!)
What do we want this year? A pair of Hunter rain boots so we can look stylish while walking the pup, an iPhone because it’s just so pretty and looks like fun, continued success and growth in our career, “The September Issue” on DVD because it’s the best thing we’ve seen all year, happiness and health for ourselves, family and friends, a new boy-toy to keep us occupied, and a year’s worth of Trophy Cupcakes with all the calories and fat removed. Not too much to ask for, right?
Oh, and Happy Holidays! We’re taking next week off… see you in 2010! |

A Little Birdy Told Me…
Last Sunday we decided to go the Fremont Sunday Market, only to end up with our carefully flat-ironed hair curling at the ends and our jeans soaked from the bottoms up to mid-calf. Sometimes we wonder why we even bother to get all cute during the winter in Seattle. But, two blocks away, we found the perfect solution—an indoor shopping adventure featuring a winter wonderland of stylish boots! Short boots, tall boots, boots with zippers, boots with buckles—it was too easy to find a pair that was just right.
Welcome to Finch & Sparrow, a brand new store that showcases ShiraLeah handbags, Samantha Slater jewelry, NaLa yoga wear, and of course, the aforementioned never-ending supply of boots. We love that nearly all of the jewelry here is locally made, so not only will it complement our wardrobe, it also helps a fellow sister get her business going. One of our faves is the Bijoudally line—these designs make perfect gifts, and after all, ’tis the season to be shopping for others… sigh. Ok, maybe just one thing for us, too.
Tweet, tweet! And we’re not talking Twitter.

Totally BoDacious
Summer is but a memory—only recaptured when standing in front of our oven with the door open—but we are excited about the holiday gift-purchasing coming our way this season. We want to give items that reflect the best personal style of each friend or family member, while still being unexpected and unique.
Since we don’t really have the budget for a makeover of everyone’s home, we turned to the clever finds at BoConcept for perfect pairings. BoConcept is home to cutting-edge, modern, urban design, and we just adore it. FYI: The hot item making everyone’s list this year is the set of 6 collectors cups with different designs on each, and the corresponding (but not matching) saucers. We also swooned over every throw pillow in the place, the lotus candle holders, and the black fishnet-style vase. Really, the list is endless.
We’ve got a bundle of items from this fab store on our wish list as well (surprise, surprise). They may all be furniture pieces… but we accept gift cards as Christmas currency, so we’ve got our fingers crossed!

The Comforts of Home
Turkeys are roasting, cookies are baking, and the trim is going up—along with our stress levels, of course. Ahhh, the holidays have arrived with full force. That means that our waistlines are expanding—as are our Christmas gift lists. That’s okay, though—shopping is our cardio.
While practicing that cardio, we were drawn into Ballard Home Comforts. It turns out we were able to check a few things off our gift lists (for ourselves, not just others). It was virtually impossible to stop adding things to the pile of “keepers.” They had a little bit of everything to take care of everyone: old-style shaving kits for him, PJ Salvage flannel pajamas for your friends, adorable Lodis wallets for mom, and some awesome printed Nomad rubber cowboy boots that now sit in our closet. The store’s decor is quirky Christmas-meets-feminine boudoir-meets Grandmother’s attic. You’ll instantly feel at home and comfortable—so comfortable, in fact, that you hand your money over without much hesitation at all.
Christmas presents purchased for ten, and three for us? Check and check.

Hint, Hint
We love to spice up our wardrobe with pieces of jewelry that have an added touch of whimsy to them—it just makes life so much brighter. And the pieces by Isette are perfection.
Not only do we love their Ephersand necklaces with their lovely curves, but their Love Hint Rings are hilariously tongue-in-cheek. They can be a place-holder of things to come, or give that boyfriend of yours a hint about what you really want from Santa—not to mention the size. Completely brilliant.

Just Like Mama Taught Us
We learned at a young age, thanks to Mom and Emily Post, to promptly pop a thank-you note in the mail whenever we receive a prezzie. So naturally, we like to keep a collection of adorable and enchanting cards on hand for just this task.
After Christmas we plan on sending out the modern yet folksy wooden cards from Night Owl Paper Goods. Sustainably harvested and eco-friendly, we know it’s a unique thank-you that our friends and family won’t soon forget!

Just My Style
Everyone should have a signature scent, a signature saying, and of course, a signature color. Our signature color is, naturally, pink. We love splashes of pink everywhere—we’re not talking Barbie’s Dream House here—more like the custom-colored artwork from In Your Color.
They have a gallery of awesome black and white photographs to choose from (or upload your own), and a palette of more than 1,000 colors to create your own artwork that matches any room in your house. Now that’s our kind of dream house.
