  SEATTLE PICKS
life + style to you: every Friday
January 29th, 2010

There are plenty of things that we aren’t good at—like math. And saving more money than we spend. We’re not good at tennis. And we’re definitely not the best drivers in the city of Seattle. But if there is one thing that we do well, in fact, that we do amazingly well, is treating ourselves right.

In fact, not to toot our own horn or anything, but we could probably write a book about the million-and-one ways to treat yourself right. Get a massage. Go for a long run in the rain (yes, really). Eat a Trophy Cupcake—or two. Buy a new pair of shoes. Turn off your phone and computer and go to bed early with a good book. Get a facial—or give yourself and your best friend one while watching “The Bachelor.” We could keep going for hours.

But, we won’t—because this week it is the Treat Yourself Right issue—just look below for some of our best ideas on how to spoil yourself silly (and your loved ones and BFFs, too) in the coming weeks. Xoxo, darlings!

Seattle Picks’ Treat Yourself Right:

  1

Pretty in Pink

One of the easiest ways to give yourself a pick-me-up is to treat yourself to a night on the town. And we know of no better place for that than The Pink Door in Post Alley. Once you pass through those doors, it’s like another, magical realm—complete with delicious seasonal Italian-American flavors and entertainment like cabaret. Plus, Tuesdays are half-price bottle of wine nights! Sounds perfect, yes? Trust us—they know how to treat you right.

Shop Til You Drop

If you were to ask us what we did to treat ourselves right, 99% of the time we would say “shopping.” Shopping and getting a great deal is an extra treat. We’ll be treating ourselves very well at the Opal sale from February 4–7. Denim from True Religion and William Rast is $49 and up, tops are $19 and up, and jewelry is $10 and up—amazing! Plus, print this out and get a one-time deal of 25% off your entire purchase (regularly priced merchandise only) at any Opal location. Expires March 31, 2010.

Bright Sunshiny Day

In these gray winter months, what better way to treat yourself than with a sunless tan? If you can’t make it to Maui this season, at least look like you did with the mobile sunless tanning boutique, Belle Bronze. Their solutions are all-natural and organic, give you glowing (non-Oompa-Loompa) color, and make your skin super soft. Plus, the plush cozy robes they provide are to-die-for. Go ahead, treat yourself, right at home!

Pretty as a Plum

It may sound a little lame, but sometimes, the best way we can pamper ourselves is with a good book, a warm bath, a glass of wine and new PJ’s. Yup, nothing gets us going like new jammies. We’re currently drooling over the “loungerie” pieces from Plum Pretty Sugar. The fabric’s insanely soft, the silhouettes are gorge—and oh!—the amazing colors and patterns. We plan on treating ourselves right with the kimono sleeve-style crossover robe immediately.

Adorn Yourself

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again. One of the greatest things our grandmother taught us was to treat ourselves with a bauble or two now and then. It’s something we practice regularly—and the next piece we want is anything from Ariel Gordon Jewelry. Her pieces are simple, versatile and chic—from the zodiac necklaces to the Fatty Ring, we’re in love.
