All of our girlfriends are married. Yep, we are the lone singleton in a land full of couples—nothing depressing about that (sigh). But we’re learning that the grass is always greener on both sides of the fence. While we whine to them about how hard it is to meet a good guy, they whine to us about the challenges of “till death do us part.”
Our gal pal’s latest domestic drama came after she caught her mountain-man husband stealing their new Ralph Lauren bedding to take it camping! Her expletive rant would have made a sailor blush—but it had us howling. It made us flash back to the time one of our BF’s used our brand-new saucepan to catch the oil he drained from his motorcycle. It still makes us cringe. Hmmmm, maybe the single life isn’t so bad after all…

The Start of Something New
We know routines are good. They help us get things done faster, make the morning slightly bearable, and help us function on those days that would have been better spent in bed. But lately we’ve been in a little bit more of a rut than a routine. The thought of yet another frozen dinner, the same old coffee order, or the same clothes staring back at us in our closet has inspired us to shake things up a bit.
Instead of our usual manicure stop, we decided to try something a little different, so we booked an appointment at eN Salon—and all we can say is the rut is broken! We went in for a mani—but ended up doing so much more. The stylists and technicians were all trained in Japan, and they use that world-class training to bring an amazing touch to their relaxing facials, invigorating and stress-relieving reflexology treatments, hair cuts, colors, straightening and hair therapy.
We are definitely making a trip to eN Salon part of our new routine!

Say “Yes” to the Dress!
It’s nearing the end of wedding season, and we have to say that we’re a little bit relieved. Seriously, we’ve been in about a half a dozen weddings this summer as either bridesmaids or the maid of honor—and while we love the bachelorette parties and walking down the aisle with your future husband’s hottie best friend, we’re ready to put the parties on hold for a while. We need time to recuperate from hangovers. But we will always be okay with the “shopping for the dress” part. Champagne and a dress-up party? Yes, please!
Belltown Bride on Fourth Avenue is a brand-new bridal boutique for the bride who wants to look and feel classic, beautiful, and memorable. There are hundreds of gorgeous sample dresses—one-of-a-kind gowns that are actually affordable. Featuring couture gowns, veils, jewelry and accessories, Belltown Bride carries some of our favorite labels, like Amy Kuschel, Alvina Valenta and Manuel Mota.
So bring on the weddings. By next summer we should be sobered up enough for a new round of wild bachelorette parties!

A Little Slice of Heaven
Nothing, and we mean nothing is as good as when mom or grandma makes it. Even our PB&J’s—which are impossible to totally mess up—don’t taste as “mmm, mmm, good” as when mom and grandma add their special touch.
Now that we’re older, it’s starting to be expected that we bake with the same heart and soul as the generations before us, but frankly we are reluctant to take on those tried and true family recipes. Come on, toil and sweat in the kitchen? Sorry, that’s just not us. Thank heaven for Heavenly Pastry and Cake! It’s a new bakery in West Seattle where we can go to re-live all of our favorite sugar-crusted memories of mom and grandma whenever we want (and with no pressure to make our own). Heavenly Pastry and Cake is the work of pastry chef Allison Barnes, who treats us to her famous raspberry scones, custom cakes, and Oma Stein’s pretzel—a soft-on-the-inside, crispy-on-the-outside delight—a must-have for sure!
Watch out, Mom and Grandma—you’ve got some competition.

Put a Ring on It
When we were little, we found our mom’s old mood ring. We wore it religiously waiting for it to change from black. Man, we were a stress-case even as a kid!
Unfortunately, that ring is long gone—but our love for finger-candy holds strong. That’s why we adore the new Round Chalcedony ring by Soixante Neuf (available at Sway & Cake). Plus, the beautiful blue makes it look like we’re always in a good mood!

Windows of the Soul
Lasik surgery ruined us. Instead of waking up with the early rays of a summer morning refreshed and thankful for being alive, we’ve got the hiss of a vampire and the need for some serious eye-protection until our eyeballs adjust to daylight.
Our latest eye candy happens to be Sama’s Garbo frames by Badgley Mischka Eye Couture. What can we say? Even with our burning eyes, we’re all about channeling our style muse, Greta Garbo!

May Your Cups Runneth Over
Our first training bra was a “Thank Goodness it Fits”—not exactly a confidence-booster for a late bloomer. Since then we’ve come to terms with our borderline B-cups, but sometimes we like a little boost.
Now we can easily fake it with Cleavage Cupcakes. These little treats for your ta-tas provide just the right amount of oomph to create the illusion of cleavage to bring out those little perks—thank goodness for that!
